This post will update you on our DIY Studio Renovation. Recently, we decided to rent a place in the PJ Industrial Park. We are looking for more space after spending a year working in by 6ft x 10 ft room. So, we found a 1000 square feet space for just RM1,300.00.
This is a very affordable rate I would like to believe as it is right in the middle of where I need it to be – Petaling Jaya Seksyen 13. It is near my other warehouse and close enough to most of the shops I will often visit.
Out of most of the places, I felt like this space did not require much renovation. I just needed to add a coat of paint, fix the wiring and the floors and done!
The office is cut into 3 different parts. Part 1 is the entrance which includes a pantry. Part 2 is an empty wall-to-wall room and part 3 contains 2 rooms. One room will be a designated editing room, while the other will be a storage room.
DIY STUDIO RENOVATION PART 1
As of the 9th of May 2021, it has been 1 week since we’ve begun. We have finished (mostly) the editing room and the inventory room. As you can see, the editing room is black with black ceilings. Right now, we are waiting for the air-conditioning and light grey carpets. Once that is done, we will touch up a bit of the paint.
Next, we’ve already painted all the walls to the room that will be our studio. It will be an all white room, so we need to paint the floor with white epoxy next, and touch up some of the other parts.
Finally, we aren’t sure what to do with the outside area. We have another 21 days before our tenancy really begins, so I hope to get everything done by then.
Keep updated here, though!
Currently, I’ve spent;
- RM277 – 2 x Security Cameras which I will install myself
- RM515 – Paint
- RM179 – Wet / Dry Vacuum
- RM666 – 2 x Heavy Duty Racks for the inventory room
- RM367 – New Carpets for the editing suite
- RM182 – A ladder
- RM72 – Parking
- RM141 – Food
- RM210 – Painting Accessories
So I am still under RM3,000.
