FlyBear Pick and Pack is a fulfillment company based in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Truth: I’m one of the co-founders for the company. Check out their website here!
FLYBEAR PICK & PACK PROMO WAS SHOT ALONE
I didn’t want to bother my team nor did I have enough money to pay anyone. So on a Sunday afternoon, I went into the office and shot everything myself. I love solo shooting and am coming up with a series here.
It wasn’t hard really. As you can see, a lot of the shots are static. So I just framed my shot first. After that, I cleaned up any mess I could. Once everything was ready, I rolled.
ANIMATION WAS A B*TCH
Even though the shots were short, the actually animation was tiring. The bear was created using Adobe Illustrator. Each part I knew was going to move was in a separate layer.
Once it was ready, I brought everything into Adobe After Effects and animated using the Puppet Tool. I just moved the head up and down and swayed the feet and arms whenever needed.
THE LOOK AND FEEL
Honestly, the look and feel was determined by the limitations. When I edited everything together, I knew I had to mention some key points – the warehouse, storage, picking and packing etc. I also wanted to keep it as short as possible because I didn’t want to animate too much. (It crashes computers easily).
So the video was actually driven by the music I found on Epidemic Sounds – semi retro eye of the tiger kind of feel. Once I put the music in, everything easily slid into place.
CONCLUSION ON FLYBEAR PICK & PACK
The fact that everything was done within 15 hours and even the VO was done at home with just an iPhone, I’m quite happy with the final product. Is it perfect? No. But doing videos like this always makes me happy.
